Here is a news piece on an innovative use of waste, human excrement and other disease causing by-products in Nairobi slums. It references a project by the NGO the Umande Trust from Olympic Estate-Kibera Nairobi Kenya in Africa.
The Umande Trust is recognized by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) and has many different incredible projects they have developed in the areas of the right to water, water governance, community and waste disposal, community-led technological development and design, and bio-sanitation.
